Round 3 of the KBB Doors National Forest Rally Championship, based in Roundwood Co. Wicklow, Organised by The Motor Enthusiast’s Club saw John McCarthy/ Dan Maguire extend their lead in the series. The Subaru duo had a flawless drive to take their third consecutive victory, now leading the series by 6 points. Remarkably the top three were the same as round 2, Eddie Kinirons/ Greg Shinnors (Celica) second and Kevin O’Kane/ Francis Regan (Subaru) third.

The Subaru pairing of John McCarthy and Dan Maguire claimed their second consecutive victory on the Mitchelstown based Sean Conlon Memorial Forest Rally and now command a 4 point lead over Eddie Kinirons/ Greg Shinnors (Celica GT4) with Kevin O’ Kane/ Greg McCarthy (Subaru) 3 points a drift in 3rd in the KBB doors National Forest Rally Championship.

This weekend saw the second running of the Scalp hillclimb by Clare Motor Club. A dry and sunny morning awaited the competitors from every corner of Ireland. Last years winner Frank Byrnes was back to defend his crown. Local man John McNamara in the powerful Cougar was out to have a go at it though.

Fastest on every run was current Munster Autocross Champion Gerard Lucey in his Toyota Special. On his first run recorded a time of 2min 52.02 seconds, bringing this down to 2min 45.34 seconds on his final run.
