MAJOR MOTORING EXTRAVAGANZA COMING TO WATERFORD

Posted: March 1, 2025 3:32 AM

Dejà vu Waterford ’25, which was launched at Mount Congreve in Waterford, is a rally that’s not a rally!
It has a start and finish arch, a commentator, a rally road book for it’s 150-mile route, but no stop watches! This non-competitive ‘moving museum’ of rally cars, many with famous names on board, will be spirit these beautifully turned out and valuable vehicles over the classic Waterford Circuit of Ireland Rally stages that were used when the great Easter event came to the area in the 1980s.
The spectacular weekend programme includes the Road Run, a Welcome Reception, a Gala Dinner and a Dungarvan town centre Cars and Coffee farewell.
The proceeds will aid of two local charities, the Dungarvan Palliative Care Unit (supporting those facing life-limiting or life-threating illnesses and their families), and the Craig Breen Foundation, which helps young Irish rally drivers in their formative years and was created in the memory of Waterford’s World Rallying star Craig who tragically lost his life in a testing accident prior to the Croatian Rally in 2023.

The Park Hotel in Dungarvan will be the epicentre of the three-day festival which takes place on the 10-11-12 October 2025.
Registration and a Welcome Reception will open the weekend’s activities on Friday 10th. October.
On Saturday 11th. October the 150-mile run, over the costal and mountainous stages that were used on the Circuit of Ireland Rally in the 1980s, starts and finishes in Dungarvan. There will be a lunch halt at Mount Congreve where the public can view the cars and the Gala Dinner with entertainment, videos, interviews and a charity auction in the Dungarvan Park Hotel on Saturday evening.

Then the cars and supplemented by some vintage cars will gather in Dungarvan Square on Sunday morning for a farewell Cars and Coffee event before they head for home. The route, compiled by Frank Scanlon and his cousin Pat Scanlon, (who worked with the Ulster Automobile Club when they were planning the Circuit of Ireland in the 1980s), takes in the Copper Coast and the Knockmealdown Mountains.

De?ja? vu Waterford ’25Ro will be the 12th in this series of rally reunions organised by RPM Déjà Motorsport Ltd, the group of rally loving volunteers who have raised over €375,000 for local charities to date.

“We are delighted to be giving some useful support to these locally based charities through the funds that we gather from our entrants, a charity auction, and the collections from the public over the De?ja? vu weekend, and we would like to acknowledge the enormous support they have received from the following people in the planning of the event.
Frank Scanlon and Pat Scanlon, the Waterford cousins who invited us to bring De?ja? vu Motorsport to their area and who have been invaluable in working alongside us in its development.
Shane Houlihan and Joseph O’Flaherty who have ‘opened so many doors’ for us in the Dungarvan area, making it such a pleasure to be working with them as our plans have evolved.
The co-operation of the Waterford City & County Council, the Garda Siocha?na, Mount Congreve House & Gardens and the Park Hotel Dungarvan, which has been second to none.
