Connacht Motor Club Hillclimb Cancelled.

It is with deep regret we have made the decision to cancel our planned Hillclimb event which was due to take place on Sunday September 6th.

Following the announcement last night regarding the reduction of crowd gatherings from 200 down to 15 ,due to the growing number of cases of Covid 19 nationally , it was obvious that fulfilling this criteria would not be possible.

While disappointing as a lot of work and planning had already taken place , we are very conscious that most important at juncture is the suppression of the virus and the health and wellbeing of our citizens.

For Ultan Mc Gowan who originally had taken on the role of COC for the Stages Rally , only to be cancelled , then put enormous effort into the Hillclimb event as this was totally new ground for the club , it was a big blow for him and his team.

He has extended his sincere gratitude to the residents on the proposed route who were extremely supportive over the past month during the planning stage during what is a difficult time, but hopefully at some point in 2021 when we return to some form of normality , we can resume plans to run this new event.
