Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship cancelled in 2020

Posted: June 29, 2020 11:18 AM

The Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship [BHRC] will not go ahead in 2020, after the cancellation of the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire has forced promotors, the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club, to cancel the series this season which has been blighted by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The BHRC was set to expand to eight rounds this year, with the new-look calendar offering competitors five forest and three asphalt rounds, kicking off with the now traditional Rally North Wales in March.

Sadly, the Dolgellau based event was the first to be cancelled as the Covid-19 virus forced Motorsport UK, the sport’s governing body, to withdraw permits for motorsport events in the UK until the end of June.

Subsequently, all but the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire and the Carlisle Stages remained on the calendar with the popular gravel events taking place in September and October, respectively. However, with the recent news that the Trackrod Rally will not take place this year, the BHRC has been forced to cancel until 2021.

Championship Co-Ordinator Colin Heppenstall said
“In the current climate of Covid-19 restrictions we understand the decisions made by the participating rounds to cancel their events. With no timetable on the horizon for rallying to restart, we wholeheartedly understand the Trackrod Motor Club’s decision to cancel their event in September.

Sadly, despite our best efforts, this also means we have no choice but to cancel the Fuchs Lubricants British Historic Rally Championship and its partner series,’ the Fuchs Lubricants RACRMC Mixed Surface/Rally 2 Championship this year.

I would like to thank Fuchs Lubricants for the continued support of the Motor Club and the Championship and look forward to working with the organising rounds, sponsors and partners in 2021.”

The Carlisle Stages, planned for the 24th October will still go ahead (subject to restrictions at the time), but will not count as a round of the series.

Information on the 2021 BHRC will be announced in the coming months.
