Statement from Laois Rallysport Club regarding the Acesigns 10th Laois Heartlands Rally 2020
Posted: April 14, 2020 8:28 AM
At this time, Laois Rallysport Club’s thoughts are with the community of Residents, Officials, Marshals, Competitors and Medical professionals that have been part of the successful Laois Heartlands Rally since 2011.
The Clerk of the course Louis Garry and his committee have been following closely, fully endorse and support the measures that have been put in place nationally by the Government and Motorsport Ireland at this time to prevent the spread of COVID 19 (Coronavirus).
Following the recent government announcement that the current measures to limit the spread of the virus will be extended for a further Three weeks. The decision has been taken to postpone the planned running of the Laois Heartlands Rally from the 7th June until a later date in the year.
This decision is taken to ensure the safety of the residents along the route, the committed team of club members and volunteers from our neighbouring clubs who together ensure the successful running of the event every year.
Laois Rallysport Club wishes all residents of the stages and the wider family of supporters of the Laois Heartlands Rally from all over the country and internationally to take care of themselves and their families at this time.
We also would like to recognise the huge contribution that the medical personnel who work with the club to ensure the safe running of the rally every year are currently making to protect our communities at present and look forward to seeing everybody in Laois for the 10th running of the Rally as soon as it is safe for all.
Yours in Motorsport,
Sean McEvoy
Chairman,
Laois Rallysport Club.
