We are just hours away from the Start of this year's Acesigns Cork 20 International Rally and as the Competitors make their final adjustments to their safety notes the team at the Munster Car Club are finalizing stages in readiness for the first car on Saturday morning.

The entry has been holding well and will start one of the most eagerly awaited Rounds of the Clonakilty Blackpudding Irish Tarmac Rally Championship in recent times. The Big talking point of the weekend is who will take Group N Honor's will it be the famous McHale name on the Trophy this time Aaron will be man looking to take the spoils however Drogheda man Brendan Cumiskey has other ideas as there is only four points separating the pair should be a great battle on the County Cork stages. The New 2WD homologated award has been won by Northern Ireland's Richard Tannahill and his west cork Co-driver Aileen Kelly however 2nd place in the 2wd is still up for grabs between championship sponsor Ed Twomey and Callum Devine.

In the Modified Championship things are very close with the overall podium to be decided on the Fermoy based event. The main runners here are leader Ross Hunter however next up are some of the fastest modified drivers in the business Donegal?s Declan Gallagher and Tyrone man Frank Kelly in his infamous Baby Blue Mark II Escort . There are just a handful of points between these crews so Sunday evening will tell this story.

The Historic Championship has really been one of the closest fought championships in a long number of years with Cork deciding who gets there hands on the trophy it is down to the wire between Gareth Llyod and Ernie Graham so watch these two men driving the cars of yesteryear over the weekend at some incredible speed's. The Junior title is also coming down to the wire and the two young guns that are at the front end of the championship this year is John O'Sullivan and Rob Duggan again these guys will be well worth watching over the rally weekend.

Scrutineering takes place Friday 2nd October in Little Island and starts just after lunch. Fans are also reminded of the ceremonial Start in Fermoy Town centre Tomorrow evening and people are urged to get there early as big crowds are expected.
