ALMC ‘Bunny Run’ Multi Venue Autotest

Posted: April 14, 2011 7:39 PM

Sunday 24th April will see the ALMC ‘Bunny Run’ return to the competition calendar, the event which was the brain child of ALMC founding members Barry Crowley and Chris McNally some 42 years ago will once again throw down the gauntlet to the cream of autotest talent. The events tests will be spread through the Boyne Valley area with the organisers planning nine different tests (with a possible tenth weather permitting) done twice by each competitor. The event will be based at the clubs very own headquarters the City North Hotel, just off junction 7 on the M1. Sign on for the event will be from 8.30am with the first of the tests starting at 10.30am. The format for this year’s event will be similar to the event last year with clerk of the course Conor Crowley focusing on providing competitors with challenging tests and increasing the number of test venues to provide competitors with even more value for their hard earned entry fee. “We are building on the success of last year’s event and providing competitors with new tests and venues close to the event headquarters and as it is the ‘Bunny Run’ we have some surprises along the route for all involved mentioned Conor.

The tests will be a real challenge for both man and machine utilising both loose and concrete surfaces. There will be a special ladies award and the club are encouraging competitors and marshals alike to dress in accordance with the day that’s in. To date the event has attracted some interesting entries with the entire of the Barrable family taking part including mum Linda, she will have a fight on her hands for the ladies award with Karen Gaffney, autotest regular Lyndsay Doran and TDC’s Patricia Denning all entered for the event. Middle Eastern champion co-driver Alan Harryman has also entered the event along with a double drive entry from the Woodside family. ALMC club members will add their support to the event, along with the all club Barrable family other notable additions are stages rally COC Noel Devlin now an autotest regular and Martin Devine building on his success on last weekend’s TDC trial will be double driving alongside Dad, Johnny. A great day’s entertainment and competition is guaranteed regulations for the event are available on www.almc.ie, there are still some places left, entry fee is just €75 including €5 personal accident insurance. If you cannot compete but would like to get involved then why not marshal. If you are interested in marshalling or helping out on the day please call 086 851 3313.
