Rallycross Round 3 attracts increased entry and UK Supercar drivers

The second event in Mondello Park's winter Rallycross calendar takes place on Sunday November 7th under the guidance of the Carlow Car Club. Sunday's event will be round three of the seven round series which already looks like being the most hotly contested for a number of seasons.
The 2009/10 Champion Tommy Graham leads the way in the current championship standings having taken the win at round two just three weeks ago. Graham overcame a much stronger field than he had to face last season, to prove his first title was no fluke, and will start as favourite again this weekend. Another strong Supercar entry is set to challenge the Kildare man headed by European Champiosnhip regular Mark Proctor and Scottish racer Andy Scott. The strongest local challenge will come from David James whose Mitsubishi Evo has been substantially upgraded since last season and he will be joined by the morris brothers with their Subaru's and the Mitsubishi Evo of David Dempsey.
As usual the four wheel drive Supercars will be supported by races for two wheel drive Modified Cars, with an increased field set to do battle here led bty Michael coyne and Ian O'Connell with their very different front wheel drive Nova and rear wheel drive Lotus. the near standard Stock Hatch cars also see an increased entry for round three as does the Junior Rallycross field which due to aninflux of new recruits gets back near the size of grid it was attracting last season. The Rallycar classcontinues the theme of increasing entries witha quality field of twenty three cars including the Honda Civic Type R of European Rallycross star Derek Tohill.
Sunday's event gets under way with practice from 9:15. The heats will run from 10:15 with the finals set to get underway at 15:30.
