Rallycross Championship Round 5 Opens 2010 Mondello Park Season

After a long winter break this weekend sees the return to Mondello Park of the Irish Rallycross Championship. The popular series is set to kick off the Kildare circuits' 2010 racing action with testing on Saturday followed by round five of the 2009/10 championship on Sunday.

All of the top championship contenders will be on track as the series starts to build towards its climax. Supercar driver Tommy Graham currently leads the way from modifed driver and reigning champion Michael Coyne with Division One drivers David Dempsey and Andrew Morris locked together in third place. The modified drivers have really given the Supercars a run for their money this season with six of the top ten positions filled by drivers from this most competitive of classes.

Sunday's event gets under way at 9:15 with un-timed practice before the first of the heats commences at 10:15. The high point of the day will be the finals which will kick-off at 15:30. Admission is €15.00 for adults with children under 16 admitted free.
