Russell Brookes to attend

Posted: October 11, 2011 12:25 PM

The Club are delight to announce that Rally Legend Russell Brookes will entertain the crowds at their RallySprint. Russell was one of the main attractions twelve months ago as the club held the inaugural Halloween Historic Stages Rally and he has kept in contact during the passed year and was very disappointed to hear that the event would not be running in 2011. From the time the RallySprint was scheduled he express the wish to attend. Russell is one of three drivers that will be entertaining the crowds and some lucky winners as the Carrick Club will from next week have tickets on SALE for spins with Russell Brookes, James Coleman and Paul Mulcahy.

TICKETS GO ON SALE NEXT WEEK!

Carrick on Suir Motor Club conclude their year of events with a One Day Winter Rallysprint on Sunday the 6th of November. The event will be based in the Waterford Airport Business Park, Killowen, Co.Waterford. The event includes a 1.6km loop on a tarmac surface. Familiarization for this event will be done by walking or cycling the course. There will be at least 3 timed runs, total times to count. The event will get underway early that Sunday morning for the competitors as mchanical and per scrutiny starting at 8am. Drivers briefing and the practice run beginning at 10.15am and the first timed run getting off the startline at 10.30am.

The Carrick Motor Club are delighted to announce that proceeds from the event will be presented to the South Eastern Cancer Foundation, The Solas Centre.

Solas Centre – South Eastern Cancer Foundation provides excellent support to cancer patients and their families in the south east. The Solas Centre is a place where cancer patients and their families can find support to help living with cancer. Services include confidential listening, relaxation therapies such as reflexology or massage, counselling, art therapy, support groups, stress management, yoga and art psychotherapy for children.

The new Solas Centre opened in 2011 and was built entirely by the public’s generous donations of €1.5m. The centre will improve and expand the service that the SECF provides in Waterford and throughout South East counties of Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Carlow and Wexford. With more people being diagnosed with cancer each year in the region the new Solas Centre can now offer free services to over 1000 cancer patients per annum. In order to achieve this, the need to continue fundraising is crucial.

The Solas Centre is delighted to be associated with the Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club in its endeavours to fundraise for the Solas Centre. Ann Marie Power, Solas Centre.
