The XXII Rally Elba Storico, the eighth round of the European Historic Rally Championship, and the penultimate event of the national series, is taking shape in these days. ACI Livorno Sports once again stages the event, one of the most popular in the world, in its classic post-holiday period, from September 16th to 18th, thereby stretching the tourist season on the largest island of the Tuscan archipelago.
Following the great success of the 2009 edition and the strong consensus obtained amongst both fans and professionals (twelve nations represented among the competitors, about 6000 people attendance, with various roles in the event), the race will feature some news regarding the itinerary, scheduled over three days, from the evening of Thursday 16th to the afternoon of Saturday, September 18th.
Competition, exciting duels with the cars that made the history of street racing and also culture, will once again be the major characteristics of the race which, this year too, is meant to be even more exciting and fascinating.
In fact, for this rally whose very name is a guarantee of success, ACI Livorno Sport, organiser and promoter of the event, has once again scheduled two special stages for the first part of the challenge, on the evening of Thursday, September 16th : the "Due Colli" and the "Capoliveri", with the latter returning thanks to the strong interest shown by the municipality, who asked to join "the race ". The stage is short and very technical and partly follows the route of the famous old "dell'Innamorata‰ stage.
The second day of competition, Friday, September 17th , features the new "Rio-Cavo", just over six kilometres which will surely appeal to many, along with the classic "Monumento" and "Monte Perone‰ stages.
The final day, Saturday, September 18th, will offer the same format of 2009, which ensured racing and at the same time safety. The schedule comprises "Volterraio", "Parata-Falconaia" and once again the „Monte Perone", which is the longest stage of the whole rally, close to fifteen kilometres.
THE TIMETABLES AND DISTANCES
Start at 21.30 on September 16th from the seafront of Marina di Campo and finish of the first day, three sections, at 23.20. By that time competitors will have done two special stages and will then enter the overnight regroup in Marina di Campo.
The next day, Friday, September 17th, they will leave at 09.00 to end the day at 16.00 after six more stages.
The closing day, Saturday, September 18th, will set off at 07,45 to end at 15,00, once again in Marina di Campo.
The total route of the rally is of 473.450 km, 134.230 of which are of stages, i.e. 28.35% of the distance.
THE LOGISTICS CONFIRMED
Nothing has changed regarding the logistics of the rally, the Event HQ will remain in Marina di Campo, at the Hotel Select, which will host Race Control, the Secretariat and the Press Room.

THE PARTNERS: PASSIONATELY ALONGSIDE THE EVENT
Locman Italy, Moby Spa, The Municipality of Campo nell'Elba, Hotel Select, Eni, Ip and of course the Automobile Club Livorno will remain by the organisation for the 2010 edition of the race, confirming their strong passion for motorsport and especially for the Rally Isola d'Elba.
THE „MARE E MONTI" TROPHY
The "Mare & Monti" trophy, a name which may appear trivial, was chosen to show the relationship between two events taking place on two different areas: the sea for the Rally Isola d'Elba, the mountains for the Rally delle Alpi Orientali Historic. The idea arose, since the organisational cooperation between the two events which has been lasting for a long time, to help drivers to be present in two places and of course to run two rallies which, by their completely different features and landscapes, represent a real completion between them. The awards consist in subsidised entry fees but also in two weekends reserved for the winners of each group: one in Elba and one in Carnia. Another way to advertise the tourism of these areas through the most refined part of motorsport, Historic cars.
