ALMC Motor Club is delighted to announce the details of the 2010 Marshals Challenge. ALMC like many motor clubs around the country recognise the important role played by the men and women who give up their time on a voluntary basis to marshal at motorsport events through the year. The effort of these people is critical to the future success and well being of motorsport on the island and further afield. It is in recognition of their dedication and support that ALMC has established the 2010 marshal’s challenge.
ALMC have introduced a number of changes to this year’s challenge to not only make the Challenge more interesting and exciting but in doing so provide marshals with the opportunity to experience another form of motorsport, motorcycle road racing. While it is recognised that the two sports are different both require the same dedication and commitment of the marshals and with many of the same skills exercised on event. This year’s challenge will also provide those who take part with the opportunity to win prizes throughout the year while also qualifying for the overall honours. “Marshals are the life blood of rallying in Ireland and we at ALMC want to give something back to those who make themselves available, that is why we have made this year’s challenge even more accessible and interesting for marshals” said Noel Devlin clerk of the course for the ALMC stages rally.
The challenge for 2010 has a new scoring system and is open to both club members and non-members, although club members have the opportunity to score extra bonus points for taking part in all ALMC club run events. Points are also awarded for attendance at select rounds of the Richard Egger Insurance MSA Asphalt Rally Championship of which ALMC stages rally is a counting round. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the year to the marshals with highest points. The first prize winner will receive a Quest Events, multi activity day at Mondello park, second place will take to the track to experience a start line racing course and the third prize winner been given the opportunity to experience the co-driver’s seat in a rally car.
