PSM Motorsport are offering the opportunity for rally drivers to take part in the second and third rounds of the 2009 Fuchs Lubricants Rallycross Open Championship, which takes place at Nutts Corner (Belfast, Northern Ireland on April 25th & 26th. The aim of this is to allow Rally drivers to try their hand at Rallycross driving their own cars.

In order to provide Rally drivers with this opportunity to try Rallycross and to minimise the risk of damage to their cars, the Rally car category will be run with cars starting one-at-a-time with a maximum of 8 cars on the track at any one time. The cars will be set off at 5 second intervals - each driver will get the opportunity to take part in practice, 3 heats and a class final on each day. The total times from the three heats and the final will be added together and the driver with the lowest amalgamated time will be declared the category winner on each of the two days.

Rally car category regulations:
Rally cars - 2 or 4 wheel drive vehicles complying with the regulations for stage rallies and holding a valid MSA logbook. All vehicles must be registered for the road but need not have Insurance, MOT, or TAX. The use of racing tyres is permitted. Forest tyres are only allowed if the conditions are deemed by the Clerk of the Course to warrant their use.

The class may be sub-divided according the number and type of cars entered. All cars must fully comply with all the latest MSA safety requirements.

Entry for the Rally car category at the event has been set to £295 including VAT (or 325 Euros) and all competitors require a minimum of a National B licence.

The only modifications required to rally cars to compete in the Rallycross event is to tape up (Blank out) the front and rear lights as lights are not permitted in Rallycross. If your car fully complies with MSA Safety regulations then there should not be any other issues, as it will already have things like mudflaps fitted.
