Carrick On Suir Motor Club will hold their Hillclimb event over the weekend of the 17th and 18th of May. Clerk of the course Tony Cleary and his team have put a great amount of work into the preparation for both days action. Tony has stated that the venues being used will pose different challenges for each competitor. Day one will start at Bigwood, Mullinavat, Co. Kilkenny. This will prove the technical ability of a driver. The course starts with flowing corners until it reaches the school in Bigwood where with a fast entry two hairpin bends await. From here to the finish the road is quite narrow and has a steep gradient. For Day one Scrutiny and the service area will be just after the finish line at the top of the hill. This venue was last used in November 2007 as a sprint event with club member Eammon Murphy taking victory on the final run.

Sunday morning will see the competitors move to Garryduff, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. The emphasis on Day two is on “speed”. Starting with a twisty section for the first third of the climb the hill straightens so the cars will be “Flat out” until crossing the finish line. Scrutiny and service is placed at the bottom before the start and as cars cross the finish line they will be shown around to the start via a link road.
