2020 Irish Hillclimb and Sprint Championship - CANCELLED

"Despite our very best efforts, and on the back of what has been an extremely challenging year, we are left with no option than to cancel the 2020 Pack and Pallet Hillclimb and Sprint Championship.

As you are aware, we were due to have a double weekend with Carrick on Suir this coming weekend, but this unfortunately has been cancelled.

As it stands currently we have Donegal’s upcoming hillclimb to look forward to, and we hope you all support this event as best you can.

This is certainly not how I personally saw this year panning out, a number of us have tried very hard to keep this championship alive, unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be.

We will have to collectively go back to the drawing board for 2021 and strive to put together a plan that will work in these difficult and unprecedented times.

Look forward to turning a wheel again with you all ASAP.

Hillclimb Commission announce continuation of 2020 Irish Hillclimb and Sprint Championship.

The Hillclimb Commission are excited to announce the continuation of the 2020 Irish Hillclimb and Sprint Championship.

The calendar has just been agreed by Motorsport Ireland and is scheduled as follows:

    22/23 August - Limerick Motor Club
    29 August - Galway Motor Club
    06 September - Connacht Motor Club (non championship)
    19/20 September - Carrick on Suir Motor Club
    10 October - Donegal Motor Club
The Commission would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all who have helped us in these trying times, the motor clubs who have agreed to come and support us and to help each and every one of us back behind the wheel. The Motor Clubs who have been so generous in the past and through no fault of their own, lost 2020 events. The officials and the volunteers that have selflessly continued to give their time and expertise to our sport.

We thank our very generous and supportive sponsor, Tom Gardiner of Pack and Pallet, without whom we wouldn't have a 2020 championship. Right from the get go, when we first looked at the feasibility of a return to sport Tom was there with unfaltering support. You are a credit to our discipline.

To you the competitor, we ask you to support this championship as best you can. We understand this has been an extremely difficult year full of all sorts of challenges. We ask for your understanding, in what will continue to be challenging times going forward.

In the interest of the best and fairest possible outcome of this years championship, the commission offers a further 6 qualifying championship rounds, on top of the 2 completed pre-lockdown, giving a total of 8 rounds, with any of the best 6 to count towards overall results. For this year, 4 completed rounds will suffice for class awards.

You will note new support from Connacht Motor club for a non championship round on 6th September, we ask you to support this event as best you can, and thank Connacht for taking this on at such short notice.
