Festive Cheer With A Difference At Croft Christmas Stages Rally
Posted: December 2, 2019 4:12 AM
The annual Swift Signs and Shirts Christmas Stages Rally takes place once again at Croft Circuit Kevin Procteron Sunday 15th December 2019 and as well as a top-quality entry of some of the best drivers and cars in the UK assembled by Northallerton Automobile Club, there’s some additional attractions for all the family to enjoy this year.
As well as a capacity entry of 90 cars who will contest the event which comprises eight stages of varying routes around the North Yorkshire racetrack throughout the day, there will be a performance by Northallerton Silver Band who will play a selection of festive music and carols in the lunch break.
Also, Santa will be arriving during the lunch break too where his helpers and the Rotary Club of Northallerton Mowbray will be selling raffle tickets to win prizes including a Croft Driving Experience and a Christmas Tree from Croft Christmas Trees, with all proceeds in aid of the local Hospice movement in the area.
Leading the entry will be eight times winner Kevin Procter from nearby Scruton in his Procters Luxury Coaches-backed Ford Fiesta WRC. He will face a stiff challenge from a host of former British and National champions including Welshman Matt Edwards (Ford Escort), Lancastrian John Stone (Ford Fiesta WRC) and young Cumbrian starlet Frank Bird (Ford Focus WRC).
Hutton Rudby ace Ian Woodhouse (Ford Escort), Scotch Corner’s Tony Bardy (Ford Focus WRC) and Darlington stunt driver Paul Swift (Ford Escort) will form the local challenge along with former winner David Henderson from Durham (Ford Escort) and Northallerton’s multiple championship winning rallycrossers Dave and Drew Bellerby (BMW Mini).
Tracey Morley, Circuit Manager: “The Swift Signs and Shirts Christmas Stages Rally is always a great event which attracts a good crowd and a brilliant entry and is very well organised by Northallerton Automobile Club meaning the action on the stages is fantastic. This year, we thought we’d try something a little different to keep people entertained during the lunch time interval whilst the stages are turned around. Hopefully it will add to the festive feel of the event so my thanks to Northallerton Silver Band for agreeing to provide the festive music and to Geoff Wall from Rotary Club of Northallerton Mowbray for their help in organising Santa, his sleigh and his helpers to sell raffle tickets, all in aid of charity.”
Gates open at 8.00am and the first car starts stage one at 9.00am with action continuing throughout the day with the final stage being run in complete darkness. The lunch time interval is expected to be around 12.30 to coincide with the arrival of Santa but is flexible dependent on the running of the rally.
Advance tickets for posting until Wednesday 11th December or to collect on the gate are available at the reduced price of £9.00 per adult with admission on the day costing £12 for adults with accompanied children under 15 being admitted free. Extensive free parking on hard standing is also available with trade stalls, food outlets and commentary. The raffle will be drawn at the end of the lunch time interval with winners announced over the PA.
