Two of the established names of Irish Rallycross will make a return to the Supercar class at Mondello Park this Sunday, October 21st. Local favourite Tommy Graham will have a Fiesta Supercar at his disposal while Derek Jobb will debut his newly acquired Ford Focus Supercar, as they try to beat championship leader Derek Tohill with his all conquering Fiesta.
Mitsubishi mounted Noel Greene is the only driver in the Supercar class who can stop Tohill from adding another title to his achievements this weekend but that wont stop the action from being fast and furious as six Supercars will battle it out for the race win. The Class One grid will be completed by the Fiesta of Decal Kelly and Willie Farrell's Subaru Impreza.
Tohill also leads the overall championship, which is contested in the Superfinal, but here his opposition comes from a horde of two wheel drive modified class cars. The modified class also has a strong entry this weekend with the top four championship contenders (pictured above) Peter McGarry, Vauxhall VX220, Lloyd Spendlove's with his Lotus, Michael Coyne in a Vauxhall Nova and the BMW of Pearse Browne heading the list.
The very popular Buggies look like producing their best racing of the season as eight of the Superfast lightweight machines will be involved. Three drivers can still win this crown with Russell Woods leading the way from Owen Skelly and former circuit racer Robbie Allen.
With a big field of Rallycars, including round four outright event winner Patricia Denning, strong Fiesta and Junior entries and the Production and Super 1600 classes also set to take part an exciting build up to November's season finale is expected.
