Last weekend saw M-Sport attend the UK’s annual Rallyday with a whole host of competition and road-going vehicles. As the sun shone down on Castle Combe Circuit, a great day was had by all.
Thousands of fans were in attendance to see some of the very best that rallying has to offer. With cars from almost every era of rallying, there was something for everyone including the 2017 Ford Fiesta WRC which became the first new-generation world rally car to be driven in anger in front of the British public.
As well as the FIA World Rally Championship leader, M-Sport also brought along the Ford Focus RS RX, Mikko Hirvonen’s 2011 Ford Fiesta RS WRC and Colin McRae’s 1999 Ford Focus RS WRC.
M-Sport’s ladder of opportunity was also well represented with the Fiesta R1, R2 and R5 all in attendance as well as some of the best vehicles from the MS-RT range including the new R-Spec Edition Ford Transit which was launched at the show and draws inspiration from the success of the 2017 Ford Fiesta WRC.
Malcolm Wilson OBE, Ott Tänak, Elfyn Evans, Keith Cronin and Andreas Bakkerud were all in attendance and each were impressed by all the event had to offer.
Malcolm Wilson OBE said:
“What a fantastic event. Everywhere you turn there’s a blast from the past or someone with a story from way back when. It’s been a great day and a great opportunity to bring some of our best drivers and cars to the fans. The support that we’ve received this year has been phenomenal, and it was nice to give a little something back.”
Ott Tänak said:
“It’s been a great day – nice people, nice cars and nice weather. It’s always nice to meet the fans and there were so many of them at Rallyday this weekend. It was also a real pleasure to be the first person to drive a new generation world rally car in front of the UK fans – I think they enjoyed it as much as I did.”
Elfyn Evans said:
“This event gets better every year, and this year was no exception. There were so many cars and fans here this year and we had a lot of fun showing off with a few donuts out on the track.”
Keith Cronin said:
“When M-Sport asked me if I wanted to come to Rallyday, I said yes straight away. There were so many cars there, and I’d never seen one of the new 2017 cars up close so that was something really special. Thanks too to all the fans who came up to congratulate us on winning this year’s British Rally Championship.”
Andreas Bakkerud said:
“I’ve had an awesome day meeting all the UK rally fans. I never expected to see so many cool cars and we all had a lot of fun out on the track. I was stoked to get a few laps in the Fiesta R5, and Ott took my for a spin in the 2017 Fiesta which was a lot of fun.”
