KING OF THE 1600'S CHALLENGE CUP
Posted: October 12, 2017 7:48 AM
The king of the 1600's challenge cup is one of the hardest got and highest sought after awards in the Fastnet rally.
This year sees two additional prizes.
One for the first RWD and the second one is for the first 8-valve rally car to finish within the 1600 challenge.
In the first year of running this challenge, 45 out of 106 main field entries were eligible for the award. With names like Rob Duggan and Vince McSweeney being the two previous winners, it will be a great honour for this years winner to be crowned " King of the 1600's" for 2017.
There is once again a big interest this year with a few really quick lads already entered.

THE HUNT FOR TRITON JUNIOR TITLE AT THE END OF OCTOBER
Posted: August 30, 2017 10:15 AM
The quest to become the Triton Showers Junior National Rally champion is set for a dramatic conclusion that goes down to the wire on the final round, the Westlodge Hotel Fastnet Rally in Bantry on the final Sunday of October.
Three drivers - Meath’s Brian Brady, Donegal’s Michael Boyle and Monaghan’s Johnny Treanor, all in Honda Civics, are vying for the title.
Results from the penultimate round, the Lady Gregory Hotel Galway Summer Rally, were revised on Monday morning last due to the exclusion of Johnny Treanor for an infringement of the rules. Brady failed to finish while business commitments meant Boyle didn’t enter the Gort based rally.
Currently and based on the best five scores Brady (41 points) - leads from Boyle (33 points) and Treanor (30 points), the latter pair can include all of the points from the Bantry rally while Brady can maximize his tally to 45 points. While there are several permutations, Brady or Boyle can become the Triton Junior champion by taking the ten points in Bantry.
The top prize is a VIP trip to join the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team at a European round of the 2018 World Rally Championship courtesy of Kelly’s Toyota. The winner will also qualify for a nomination for the Billy Coleman Young Driver of the Year award scheme.
The runner-up and third in the Triton Junior series will receive a tyre deal with compliments of Triton Showers worth €1250 and €750 respectively.

Preliminary Details / New COC
Posted: March 15, 2017 9:30 AM
This year's Fastnet Rally takes place on 29th October 2017. The Fastnet Rally team will this year be headed up by a new Clerk of the Course, John Buttimer.
John is looking forward to the challenge of running this year's rally.
Upon his election to C.O.C John acknowledged the years of dedication and commitment given to The Fastnet Rally by the previous C.O.C Ger Hayes. Over the years Ger has made a huge contribution to Rallying and the Skibbereen and District Car Club. He has volunteered and has been involved in many rallies throughout the country. John is looking forward to Ger's continued involvement in this year's rally.
The 2017 Fastnet Rally will once again be based in Bantry with Headquarters at The Westlodge Hotel. The Fastnet Rally will also be continuing the relationship with The Bantry Development and Tourism association.
John is hoping for the continued support of all involved in The Fastnet Rally.
