Last Sunday's Clare Loose Autocross was second round of the Munster Autocross Championship. Another exciting race with victory going to Tipperary's James Lahart (Semog Buggy) on the third and final run.

Fastest out of the blocks was Limerick's Christopher o Callaghan (Semog Buggy) who had a lead of over 5 seconds at the end of the first timed run. The chasing pack was lead by Paul O' Driscoll (Semog Buggy) ahead of the similar machines of Lahart and Brian Hassett-winner of round one in Clonakilty.

The second run was quicker and O'Callaghan shaved almost two seconds off his time to retain the lead. Hassett was now second ahead of O'Driscoll and Lahart.

On the third run Lahart had a "flyer" with a time of 3-05-78, a full ten seconds quicker than his first run. O' Callaghan finished second, two seconds in arrears ahead of O Driscoll and Hassett, with Kevin O Connor fifth. There was a big scrap in the saloons also. William Meade (Nova) held sway for the first two runs until Johnny Kenneally (Impreza) got ahead on the last run with a margin of less than a second. Elaine Shinnors (Impreza) won the ladies award.

Round three of the Munster Autocross will also be hosted by the Clare MC on May 21st. The race will also be counting round one of the National Loose Autocross Championship.
