LICENCE LEVIES TO BE REMOVED FOR 2019Posted: December 18, 2018 10:29 AM
Motorsport Ireland are pleased to confirm that levies will be removed from all licences applied for from January 1st 2019. The move, which will see more than €250,000 filter back into the pockets of licence holders, is part of a more streamlined approach to licencing which will see reductions in the cost of all clubman and junior licences. Clubman licences will drop in price by almost 50% from €110 to €60, and a clubman category licence will now incorporate Autocross events up to 1650cc. Junior licences are also to be reduced by almost 10% to just €50. Coupled with this, there will be a “renew as previously held” option on renewal forms, which have also been redesigned, to help simplify the licence renewal process.

"We are very grateful to the competitors who travelled to Athlone on Tuesday 23rd May to attend the meeting to discuss the insurance crisis which exists within the sport today. At a meeting earlier that day the Motorsport Commission decided that the previously required deposit premium be set aside in place of a per capita payment on the first 80 cars entering sealed surface rally events. The purpose of this is to alleviate the financial burden on some clubs should they fail to receive sufficient entries to pay the cost of running events. It was also confirmed that an entirely separate bank account has been established for the purpose of receiving contributions to the insurance support fund.

The clubs have been asked to take this solution back to their members and have until lunch time on Friday to communicate their decision to MI. We appreciate how difficult a situation this is but we want all motorsport under MI, all 11 disciplines, to continue this year and beyond. Thank you."
