As some people have already started to get rather confused by the release of the latest BHRC video, a quick round up of what you can expect this season may help to clarify things....
For 2017 the first place to see coverage of the BHRC will be online, with TV coverage of the events following at a later date for those who do not want to watch online.
Online coverage will be split into various videos, these will make it easier for people to watch around their busy lifestyles, and will enable the championship to keep the buzz of the events going for longer between rounds, and a presence online over a greater period of time after the event.
Coverage will be split into various videos which will be released after the event, these will start with the overall event round up which will appear straight away after the event, this will cover a small selection of crews from all categories on the event in order to give a quick feel for the event and what to expect in the coverage.
A few days later the first of the reviews will appear, these videos will be split by Category, with Category K being grouped in with Category 3, and Category 1 & 2 being together in another video. On events where there are a higher number of Category 1 cars then Category 1 & 2 will likely be split into their own videos too. These videos will be rotated, with everyone getting their chance to be released first.
After the review videos we will have special feature videos, these will vary from round to round and could include driver profiles, behind the scenes on events, any interesting stories, or sponsor profiles etc, these will start to appear after the category reviews.
And finally, once the championship gets round to the next event, a preview for the next round will appear online, with a quick look forward at what to expect.
After all of that, TV coverage of the championship will appear in review shows featuring 2 rounds per show, so if you are unable to watch online then you will be able to catch up on TV
Remember, all of our coverage, including the BHRC, is available on our free App which you can download for IOS and Andriod, and is also available on the website at www.specialstage.co.uk where you will find pages for each of the championships that include all of the coverage to watch anytime, and of course if you have a device such as Chromecast, you can stream the coverage to your TV!

Greater on-line TV focus for 2017 BHRC
Posted: February 16, 2017 2:20 PM
Details of the 2017 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship TV coverage have been announced ahead of the opening round of the championship, the Red Kite Stages (Sunday 19 February).
While the championship will again feature in regular dedicated programmes on Motors TV, an increasing focus will be placed onto on-line content, including mini-features, editorials, previews and swift post-event summaries. This content will be available via social media and YouTube.
Championship manager Colin Heppenstall said: "We want to keep our coverage relevant to the way people watch rallying. By committing an increased share of our TV budget to short, sharp on-line material we can react quickly to news and developments in the BHRC as well as serve our TV partners with content that matches their needs."
Filming and TV production for the BHRC will again be handled by the team at Special Stage and the championship will enjoy dedicated programmes on Motors TV. In addition, all programmes will be available on YouTube.
Support for coverage of the 2017 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship comes from TV partners Chris Browne Builders, Dunkin' Donuts, Keighley Transit Centre, Rally and Competition Equipment and Sherwood Engines.
Heppenstall said: "I'm pleased to confirm our 2017 TV package and we are very grateful to our TV partners for their support. With more and more people watching motor sport on-line and via social media, we have shifted the focus of our coverage for the new championship season."

Changes to underbody protection for historic cars
Posted: November 16, 2016 12:23 PM
Important changes have been made to MSA regulations for underbody protection on historic rally cars following representation from the organisers of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship.
With effect from 1 January 2017, the limitation on material permitted to be used to protect the underside of historic cars on special stage rallies has been eased. The revised regulation allows for the use of any material of period specification, which removes the previous limitation of fibreglass and opens up the option to use composite material.
The proposal came from discussions within the BHRC management team from the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club and is seen as a move to help keep historic cars competing on gravel rallies.
The ruling from the MSA Historic Committee is as follows:
49.11.4. Any underbody protection must be of period specification. Additionally a guard, moulded closely to the vehicle floor pan, fixed by bolting and/or adhesive may be fitted. It must not extend beyond the front and rear axle centre lines and the outer 100mm on each side must not cover the vertical section of the outer sills.
Reason: To remove the restriction on materials used for underbody protection to allow Historic Stage Rally vehicles to use protection that will be effective.
ALMC Stages Rally will be a counting round of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship

ALMC Motor Club are delighted to announce that next year's ALMC Stages Rally will be a counting round of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship. This will be the championship's first time to visit the Republic of Ireland and ALMC are looking forward to welcoming all historic crews to the rally along with crews from the MSA Asphalt Rally Championship and the Loughran Signs Midlands East Rally Championship.
The Mintex BHRC is organised by the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club and the 2017 BHRC covers eight rallies (nine rounds) with five gravel and three asphalt rallies.
2017 BHRC calendar unveiled - Includes ALMC Stages
Posted: October 26, 2016 7:16 AM
The dates for the 2017 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship have been confirmed, with an eight-event, nine-round, schedule covering five gravel and three asphalt rallies.
The Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club is promoting the MSA BHRC under a five-year contract and 2017 will be the third year of that agreement.
The 2017 calendar takes in some of the very best gravel and asphalt rallies in the UK and adds a brand new event, the ALMC Stages in Ireland on Sunday 2 July. Based just outside Dublin, this first-class closed-road rally offers a time and cost-effective Irish event and marks the first time that the championship has visited Southern Ireland. With easy access from the ferry ports and Dublin airport, it should be a popular addition to the schedule.
Once again, Rally Isle of Man will run to a double-header format and the three asphalt events have been grouped together to make things easier for crews changing cars from gravel to asphalt specification.
"We have responded to our competitors by adjusting the balance slightly between asphalt and gravel rallies," said championship manager Colin Heppenstall. "There is a growing move towards asphalt events in historic rallying and we have reflected this is our calendar."
The championship will be officially launched at Autosport International at the Birmingham NEC (12-15 January) when championship registrations will be open.
