Autocross back in Co Clare
Posted: April 12, 2016 10:50 AM
Clare motor club are delighted to announce that their loose surface
autocross will take place on Sunday May 29th 2016 (note date change).
Firstly the directors of Clare motor club would like to thank the national
autocross committee, Motorsport Ireland, CAC delegates and motor clubs for
facilitating this date change.
The big news for this years autocross is that Clare motor club is moving
back to The Banner County for the first time since 2012 and making a return
to Fountain quarries for the first time since 2004. From a club prospective
this is fantastic news and a lot of the competitors that competed back then
tell me that this venue was probably the best autocross venues in the
country. Fountain Quarries is located approx 5 km from Ennis town centre on
the N85. Clare motor club would sincerely like to thank Lagan asphalt group
for giving us the use of this fabulous facility.
This year we are Round 2 of the Five Star Catering National Autocross
Championship and Round 3 of the O'Shea Bus Hire/Barrett Transport/Pablo Photography Munster
loose surface Autocross Championship.
Gerry O'Brien is COC once again this year and is looking forward to
welcoming existing competitors and new competitors to the event. Clare
motor clubs autocross has grown to be one of the most popular autocrosses
in the calendar, having been voted Munster autocross of the year for the
past two years and this year a capacity entry is expected. This is a great
opportunity for competitors to come to visit our beautiful county town of
Ennis enjoy the sites and Clare's hospitality and make a weekend of it.
There is a lot of top class accommodation within a short distance of the
venue.
Also this year there is a new class catering for 14 to 16 year olds.
The club will be releasing details on the event in the coming weeks.
In the meantime put the date in the diary - Sunday May 29th 2016
