With under 2 weeks to go to the first round of the Plasticbags.ie Southern 4 Rally Championship
plans are at an advanced stage for this year’s championship one of the most popular regional rally
championships in the country.
There are some big changes in this year’s championship the biggest being that Darren McCarthy
has stepped down as championship manager after many years in the job, Darren has left a strong
vibrant championship behind him and now it’s up to the new committee to continue on the good
work and keep the championship to the forefront of Irish Rallying in the south of the country.
The committee is delighted to have Sean o Carroll MD Plasticbags.ie back on board as
Championship Sponsor, Sean is a valued member of our committee and a competitor himself.
The new committee is made up of a delegate from each round of the series and the new
Championship Manager is Colin Fitzgerald.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Darren
McCarthy for the great work he has put in over the years in making it such a successful
Championship. I would also like to thank Sean O'Carroll of plasticbags.ie for his continued support of
the championship and I look forward to working with him and the whole committee in ensuring that
the 2015 Championship is as successful as years gone by. All rounds will remain the same as last year
and the main change for 2015 is the introduction of points for all Rally 2 competitors. I look forward
to seeing you all at the first round in West Cork and wish everybody a safe and successful year
ahead. Karen J O Sullivan remains on as Championship Registrar. "
The committee would like to thank all rounds for their help in promoting the championship, the
championship bursts into action on the West Cork Rally on St Patricks weekend sure where else
would you be.
