The Icebreaker Rally name returns as the 1st round of Mid Antrim Motor Club's 2015 championship. Many of you may remember it as being a road rally hosted at the beginning of the year in the 70's and 80's.

Our rally organising committee have decided to bring the name back to the calendar, this time as a stage rally. We have introduced some changes to the original rally which was run both as a single venue event at Ballymena Showgrounds to using forests and lanes in the Ballymena area, run with the support of sponsorship from GMW & Stephen Mawhinney Motors.

This year the event will be 100% gravel rally which will be based in Ballyboley Forest. The HQ, Service and stages are all confined within the forest complex, which means no road insurance is required- keeping costs down for competitors. 24 stage miles are on offer for only £200.

Carey Floorcare, supplier of Industrial Cleaning Equipment in Ireland is the headline sponsor for this year's rally and thanks goes to William Carey, a fellow competitor and the Glens of Antrim rally COC for his generous sponsorship.

This event is only one week before the first round of the Valvoline Irish Forest Championship in Donegal so will make an ideal shakedown for those wanting to get back into the swing of things after the New Year. Santa has been making the final checks to his sleigh before it pulls onto the runway; we hope all those cars will also get a bit of attention over the holiday season and will be ready for a test in the New Year.

At this time of year we look back at the highlights and lowlights of 2014; from this we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe years rallying, and hope you will jump start the New Year with us on 24th January.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at Mid Antrim Motor Club & headline sponsor William Carey of Carey Floor Care Equipment.

There will be further press releases over the coming weeks
