Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club, one of the oldest clubs in the country founded in 1958 are once again organising a Motorsport Festival on Sunday 13th of July this year. For those of you who were lucky enough to have attended this event in 2008 to celebrate the 50 year anniversary you will know what to expect.

Irish Motor Clubs in general are very important to the local economy and all work hard for local charitable organisations. Carrick-on-Suir 2008 Motorsport Festival raised €98,000 for two very worthy charities.

Chairman of the Festival James Coleman explains that this year is no different. The 2014 Festival is a joint venture between Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club, Piltown Community Enterprise and the South East Radiotherapy Trust (SERT). The work being done over the years by Piltown Community Enterprise for the local community is phenomenal and they are currently working on a project to renovate the old Creamery site in Piltown to provide incubation units for new start up business.

Launched in 2005, SERT (South East Radiotherapy Trust) provide an incredible service to cancer patients in the South East region providing free transport for the aftercare of patients. SERT are a 100% voluntary organisation with a fleet of eight vehicles covering most of the counties in the South East bringing patients to radiotherapy units in Waterford & Cork.

The 2014 Festival will be a one day event this year on Sunday the 13th July and will feature all the highlights of the 2008 event from rally cars to track cars, vintage and classic cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles. There will be a huge variety of entertainment laid on and it promises to be a great day out for all the family.
We will also have threshing, static engines and a live arena where you can sit as a navigator in a modern rally car for a few laps of a purpose built track with some of Ireland’s finest drivers.
The Motor Enthusiasts Club of Ireland will be holding sporting trials, and Motocross Ireland will be hosting motorbike racing.
Parades during the day will include rare Open Wheel racing cars, John O’Gorman’s vintage parade and members of the Harley Davidson Club, who are holding their “Boobs and Balls” charity event over the same weekend.

Dunbrody Archery will be holding an archery display and giving the public the opportunity to shoot a few arrows.
A huge variety of children’s amusements will be scattered around the site, including a Cup-Cake Workshop by award winning Cake creators from “A Slice of Heaven” where you can learn the skills of cake decorating.
If you are visiting the festival and cars aren’t really your thing a visit to the “Ladies Haven” will feature advice on fitness, health and well-being, Air brush Make-up, Colour Me Beautiful, and fashion shows at 3pm and 4pm.

It will once again be a day to remember. Our website is updated regularly and an itinerary for the day will be added to it in the coming week. Follow us on facebook & twitter for updates.
