Posted: September 21, 2014 7:50 PM
The Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club’s Willie Loughman Forestry Rally will take place on Sunday 12th October. It’s all systems go as the event date nears. The rally is the 6th round of the Valvoline National Forestry Championship and the 8th and final round of the TRITON SHOWERS South East Stages Rally Championship.
Great Stuff Catering has come on board to sponsor of this year’s rally. Associate sponsors are the Carraig Hotel and The Suirway Group.
Regulations are available from the Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club’s website and entries secretary, Jane Delaney, Brenor, Piltown. Co. Kilkenny.
The rally is based in the Mill River Business Park. Scrutiny is on Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning, to facilitate those who may be travelling from the Donegal Harvest Rally.
The event will consist of six stages in the Suir valley (3 X 2)with service in Mill River Business Park after three stages.
Clerk of the Course Barry Duggan has set out the best stage options available and assures all that they will not be disappointed.
The Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club’s Willie Loughman Forestry Rally, is Irelands longest running forestry rally, a fact that the club is justifiable proud of for more than one reason. The event was run in lean times when forestry rally was neither popular of profitable. Since it was first run in the late 1960’s we missed two years, once due to a national fuel shortage and the other time due to a foot and mouth epidemic. Modern rallying has changed the nature of the event that used to consist of at least 15 stages to the sprint type event of today.
