DMACK And MacCrone Serve Magic Mull Victory
Posted: January 31, 2014 10:32 AM
In what was DMACK’s most significant Tarmac performance to date, John MacCrone and Stuart Loudon sealed a dominant overall victory on the iconic Tunnock’s Mull Rally with a lead of nearly four minutes over their closest rivals.
Mull resident MacCrone scored 11 wins from 19 stages and led the event from the third stage on Friday evening to deliver an untouchable drive and popular victory.
He powered the unique M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2400, run on the event by CA1 Sport, through the demanding Tarmac roads across the Isle of Mull. Renowned for their high-speed, narrow roads and punishing jumps, the demanding rally stages make the event one of the toughest sealed surface challenges around.
MacCrone used DMACK’s DMT1 moulded slick in XS compound and DMT-RC, with its world rally tread pattern, in S3 compound to find the performance needed to decimate the opposition on the two-day event, which covered over 157 miles of tough, timed Tarmac action.
Dick Cormack, DMACK motorsport director, said:
“We are constantly transferring the knowledge from our world rally programme into our range of tyres for national competitors and this victory is an important step forward. John has delivered a superb drive on some of the trickiest conditions and toughest Tarmac roads around. Being quickest on over half the stages and winning by nearly four minutes shows just how much he dominated the event.”
John MacCrone said:
“Winning my home rally means so much to me, everything worked really well and the Fiesta is such a rewarding car to drive. I was impressed with the DMACK tyres and the grip they provided in the really cold dry conditions – they gave me a lot of confidence. The roads in Mull are fantastic – it’s such a demanding rally but a fantastic feeling to win.”
