With just under 2 weeks to go Clerk of the Course Terence and his team are finalising arrangements for Carlow Stages Rally 2013. Remember these are 3 stages consisting of over 145 competitive stage km with centralised service area in Tullow. With entries coming steadily in this will provide a fantastic mix of crews incorporation some of the best in the country with the added interest from visiting competitors from Wales, Scotland and the UK. Carlow Stages Rally 2013 is a round of the ever popular Triton Showers South East Stages Rally Championship. Not forgetting the level of interest the Mark II Challenge brings in every year. The question on everyone’s mind is – Who will be the 2013 winner of the Mark II Challenge?
The Rally launch took place in the Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Country Club on 27 April last with over 200 hundred people in attendance to see and hear the stories of Michael Lyster and rally greats Phil Collins, Howard Davies and Mark Higgins. Many thanks to all those who attended the event with special thanks to those who displayed their cars on the night.
A reminder for all those coming to compete and spectate at this years rally - Rally headquarters Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Country Club have again offered special rates to all those wishing to stay over the weekend with 1 night B&B for 2 at €100; 1 night single B&B at €80 and a house which accommodates 6 people at €325 for 2 nights or €200 for 1 night and prompt booking is advised to avoid missing out.

The 2013 Carlow stages rally and Mark 2 Challenge is fast approaching and Clerk of the Course Terence O’Shaughnessy and his crew have been very busy over the winter months in preparation for what is sure to be another exciting Carlow Stages Rally. The rally will be a 3x3 stage format this year with 3 new stages consisting of over 145 competitive stage kilometres in the heart of Carlow.
The rally returns to Tullow with the main sponsor being Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Country Club. Scrutiny, Service and Parc Ferme are all centrally located with a secure trailer park also within close proximity.
As the Club is celebrating its 50th year in existence this year they are offering a massively reduced entry fee of €435 for the main field. With the juniors and historics coming in at €250 representing fantastic value. Also to give back in it’s 50th year the club are offering a prize fund of €1000 to the event, details of which will follow shortly. Every year Carlow Car Club offers the first competitor home and the winning Mark II a free entry to the rally the following year to defend their crown and this year is no exception.
This years rally is a counting round of the ever popular Triton Showers South East Stages Rally Championship along with the Carlow Car Club Members Championship

Carlow Rally Launch – Change of date - SATURDAY 27 APRIL 2013

Carlow Stages Rally and Mark II Challenge is moving its traditional launch date from Holy Thursday. The Official launch of the 2013 Carlow Stages Rally and Mark II Challenge will now take place on Saturday 27th April at 8.30pm in the Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa and Country Club, Tullow, County Carlow.
There will be a display of rally cars on the evening and the club have the pleasure of welcoming Michael Lester back as MC for the night. As always the club will have a surprise guest speaker and given the calibre of previous speakers including Gwyndaf Evans, Phil Mills, Kris Meeke and Nicky Grist it’s sure to be a great night.
There will be a raffle on the night with proceeds going to local charity Tullow Youth Project. Prizes on offer will include a Free Entry to Carlow Rally, along with many other prizes.
A great night for any rally enthusiast or just someone wanting to see what rallying is all about. All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there.
