Hazelwood Loose Surface Autocross Championship 2012

Posted: March 22, 2012 11:39 AM

Connacht Motor Club are planning another action packed four round Hazelwood Championship for the Saehan track again for 2012. Following on from the past two years which the club has run it as a championship, there has been a core of dedicated competitors in pursuit of valuable point’s right from the opening round, and while the title was captured on both occasions by Stephen Lipsett, it came right down to the final round to determine a winner.

This year’s Championship kicks off on Sunday April 15th and competitors are advised that the course is of the same standard as in previous years, with need for very little remedial work to be carried out since last year.

The same format prevails, with three runs, each of three laps with both fast flowing and tighter sections throughout the course suited to both rear and front wheel drive cars. The timing is carried out accurately with individual start and finish beams with a number of manned barrels on the tight hairpins with the provision for a five second penalty.
The venue provides for a clean and accommodating paddock area and runs are facilitated efficiently to minimise competitors queuing time before runs .The event provides for a total of 10 classes, with class 10 being added last year at the later events due to specific interest from a number of Mini competitors and this year the class has also been included in the Championship.

Automatic Registration applies for Competitors competing on Round 1 or 2 only and competitors who do not compete on either of these rounds will not score championship points.

Regulations for both Championship and Round 1, which takes place on April 15th, are now available and competitors are advised that entries are limited to a maximum of seventy.

The further rounds of the championship are May 6th, September 9th and October 7th.
