ALMC Motor Club Honour 2011 Champions

ALMC club member Tim McNulty and co-driver Paul Kiely winners of the 2011 Irish Tarmac and National Championships along with MERC Championship winners Barry Mahon, Ultan McGowan and Andreas Reid were presented with awards at a special ALMC Motor Club presentation in the City North Hotel. Tim and Paul in their Subaru Impreza WRC S12B, made history when they were the first crew to win both the Irish National and Tarmac Championships in the same year. While Barry Mahon took overall honours in his Honda Civic clinching the Midlands East Rally Championship (MERC) championship with his co-driver Ultan McGowan taking third overall. ALMC club member Andreas Reid secured first overall co-driver also in the MERC championship.

The presentation was attended by over forty ALMC club members along with Meath County Council Chairman, Eoin Holmes, he was also joined by CEO of Motorsport Ireland Alex Sinclair and ALMC Motor Club chairman John Carroll.
“ALMC Motor Club has a wealth of motorsport talent and to have drivers and co-drivers taking overall honours in three Irish championships is remarkable and shows the high level of expertise our members have in motorsport. It is important to show them how much we appreciate their efforts and to honour them on their achievements and the attendance tonight shows the support of the club members.” Commented club chairman John Carroll.

Along with the presentations to the winning club members there was also a special presentation to Breen McNamee a member of the Motorsport Ireland scrutiny panel for his contribution to the ALMC Endurance Trial event which took place in the autumn of this year.

ALMC Motor Club run a number of motorsport events throughout the year in counties Meath, and Dublin the highlight of which is the annual stages rally which takes place in July each year. The club also runs a charity motor show at City North Hotel in May in aid of the Jack & Jill foundation and a multi venue Autotest in April each year with the clubs Endurance Trial rounding out the year’s activities in October. The club meets on the first Wednesday of each month in the City North Hotel at 8pm and all are welcome to attend.
