The Killarney autocross weekend 2009 was held in Mike Cronin’s Quarry, Killarney on August 1st and 2nd.
The event was round 5 & 6 of the Jerry Murphy Tyres Munster autocross championship and round 3 & 4 of the Darby O’Gills Killarney autocross championship. Saturday saw the racing begin at 5pm.
Fastest time of the day on Saturday went to Jerry Lehane (Subaru Impreza) with a time of 2:40:91.
Class 1 was won by Ger Lynch with Denis O’ Brien 2nd and Conor Bradley 3rd.
Class 2 saw Ian Stanley take the win with Andrew Lehane 2nd and Sean Sheehy 3rd.
Coleman Hurley was the quickest in class 3 and John Hickey won class 4.
Mike O’Connor won class 5 in his Kawasaki special.
Fastest special on day 1 was Dave Fallon on a time of 2:47:90.
Jacqueline Tuck won the ladies class and the junior category was won by Denis Nagle with David Beamish 2nd and Colin Nelligan 3rd.
Sundays action got under way at 11am and the battle for fastest time of the day was between Jerry Lehane and Daniel Cronin and in the end Cronin came out on top by just 2 seconds.
Jerry Lehane won the fastest saloon of the day.
Class 1 remained unchanged on the 2nd day with Ger Lynch taking the win with Denis O’Brien 2nd and Conor Bradley 3rd.
Class 2 saw Ian Stanley taking the win with Owen Murphy in the runner up position. Coleman Hurley was quickest in class 3 yet again in his Astra.
David Fallon was the fastest special on day 2 with Jimmy Lucey 2nd.
The Junior section on day 2 was won by David Beamish from Denis Nagle.
A large crowd attended on both days to both compete and spectate and the event proved to be a huge success.
Credit must go to COC Pat Russell and his team who put together a great event.

August 1st & 2nd sees the second running of the Killarney and district motor club loose surface autocross weekend. the event counts as 2 rounds of the KDMC Darby O Gills championship and 2 rounds of the Jerry Murphy Tyres munster autocross championship.
The event will once again be held in the Mike Cronin Readymix Quarry just outside Killarney.The venue is one of the oldest and one of the highest regarded autocross venues in the country.
The COC is the vastly experienced competitor Pat Russell,
he has planned a challenging course of over 2kms which is sure to keep the drivers busy,
and its also an ideal chance to give the car a run before Cork forestry.
A good turn out is expected with a variety of cars from Fiats to the banging and whistling of gp A imprezas to the awesome sounding JB buggies.
The event kicks off @1630 on Saturday and 11 am on Sunday.
Regulations will be available shortly and entries will be taken at the venue on both days.

Launch Night - Saturday Night - 18 July 09

The 3rd & 4th round of the Darby O’Gills Killarney Autocross Championship is set to take place on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd of August.
Launch Night for the event is this Saturday July 19th at Darby O’Gills Hotel Mallow Road Killarney, approx 9pm.
All competitors/ marshal’s/ spectators etc are more than welcome.
