PEREZ/COLLIS TAKES DUKERIES VICTORY

Twenty-five years after he first contested the event as a co-driver, Kick Energy rally driver Steve Perez romped to his second Dukeries Rally victory after a superb performance in the Sherwood Forest region today.
On the 1984 event as a co-driver, Perez managed to get his driver a two minute time penalty by clocking in early, but the Chesterfield businessman saw no such problems as he and co-driver Sam Collis romped to a 21 second win on the fifth round of the BTRDA series.
Driving the Ford Focus RS WRC 07, the pair trailed the BTRDA regulars in the early stages but once they got into the flow on the dry and dusty stages, Perez and Collis soon upped the pace.
However, a gearbox problem on SS4 saw them drop to third but they bounced back to eventually take the lead and with it the victory on his local event, much to his satisfaction:
"That's the second Dukeries win I've had and they don't come much better as I was made to work hard for it. The car stopped on SS4 and I thought it was all over so I shut everything down and rebooted it all and it came good again and after that, there were no problems. A quarter of a century ago, I clocked my driver in early but now I know what it means so I apologise!" said Perez afterwards.

Dukeries Rally celebrates its Golden Jubilee in 2009

The 2009 Dukeries Rally on Saturday 13th June will be the 50th running of the event which first started back in 1960 and has run every year since then. The event will again be a qualifying round of the Silverstone Tyres BTRDA Rally Series and the MSA English Rally Championship plus 4 Regional Rally Championships.
The organisers intend to make this years event a worthy celebration of 50 yrs of the Dukeries Rally so put Saturday 13th June in your diary.
The Gold Jubilee event will offer 44 stage miles in the famous Sherwood Forest area of Nottinghamshire and is a round of the Silverstone Tyres BTRDA Rally Series incorporating the Silverstone Tyres Gold Star Championship, the Silverstone Tyres Silver Star Championship and the Millers Oils BTRDA 1400 Championship plus the BTRDA Rally First Challenge and the MG ZR Rally Challenge. The event is also a round of the MSA English Rally Championship and four Regional Association Championships; the Competition Car Insurance EMAMC Stage Rally Championship, the Roadrunner / Phoenix Awards ANEMMC Rally Championship, the ANCC Stage Championship and the Ward Construction AEMC Stage Rally Championship.
The Rally HQ, Scrutineering, Documentation Start and Finish are all located at the completely refurbished Southwell Racecourse where there is ample space available. Thanks to support from both competitors and sponsors we will be able to maintain a value for money entry fee whilst still providing an excellent event. To encourage competitors to sample forest stage rallying we again offer a reduced entry fee for any driver entering a forest event for the first time. This reduced entry fee is also available to Rally First competitors in Classes RF1.0 and RF1.4.
