Keith Cronin has announced his intention to sign up for the Irish Evo Challenge. Irish Evo Challenge gets set for second seasonPosted: February 12, 2009 12:33 PM
This year sees a revised format, with six events split into nine rounds – the two day rallies providing a double-points scoring opportunity for competitors, who will count their best six results. Once again, the Irish Evo Challenge will feature an all-asphalt surface and a good mixture of top-quality events. Another first for this year’s Irish Mitsubishi series will be its trip north of the border for the Ulster Rally and, with this event also representing a round of the UK Championship, this will be the first time ever that two Evo Challenges have competed together. To further spice things up, series organisers have said they will present a Nations Cup to the most successful of the two countries. Once again, the Evolution Challenge will offer competitors an excellent prize fund, with the Champion wining a supported drive in a James Foley Rallysport prepared Group N Lancer Evolution X for selected rounds of the 2010 Irish Tarmac Championship. Adding to the profile of this award, organisers are delighted to announce that Mitsubishi Motors Ireland has provided its endorsement. The car will therefore appear in works colours and the campaign will be known as JFR Mitsubishi Team Ireland. Other prizes up for grabs for Evolution Challenge competitors will be tyres, fuel and other awards on each round and at the end of the season. “Everything is set for a promising year ahead”, said Evolution Challenge Manager Simon Slade. “Following a successful first season we hope that the prizes on offer, coupled with the high-profile status and reputation the series has already achieved, will attract competitors - even in these difficult economic times.” With its stringent policing of technical regulations, the Evolution Challenge is now well known for being fair and competitive and, to ensure an even more level playing field exists, 2009 will again feature controlled Sunoco fuel and Pirelli tyres. Other supporters of the series include: Mitsubishi Motors Ireland, James Foley Rallysport, Speedline Wheels, Murray Motorsport, PIAA lights, Pacenotes and Sparco racewear. 2009 Championship RoundsPosted: January 13, 2009 12:55 PM
