PRICE CHANGE!…

After several years of supporting each round of the Richard Egger Insurance MSA Asphalt Rally Championship with his John Price Rallying ‘Star Drive’ salvers, the most successful driver the series has ever seen – he has won the title twelve times! – has decided to move on to pastures new this year.

While everyone involved with the Championship would like to thank ‘JP’ for his support over the years, we would also like to welcome John Horton who has kindly stepped into the breach with a series of John Horton Motorsport Management ‘Star Performance’ awards for each of the seven qualifying rounds of the MSA Asphalt Rally Championship.

The brief from John Horton is quite clear – “The ‘Star Performance’ award can be given to a driver, co-driver, organiser or marshal – in fact anyone who has delivered a ‘Star Performance’.

Particular consideration will be given to drivers in lesser-powered cars who finish higher up the overall classification than might otherwise be expected – a ‘David & Goliath’ result. Newcomers/young co-drivers who help their driver to achieve success will also come under the spotlight.

The Richard Egger Insurance MSA Asphalt Rally Championship begins with the Fix Auto Swansea Tour of Epynt on Sunday 22nd February.

RICHARD EGGER INSURANCE REMAIN ON BOARD

The organisers of the MSA ASPHALT RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP & BTRDA ASPHALT RALLY SERIES are delighted to announce that RICHARD EGGER INSURANCE have confirmed their intention to remain as headline sponsors for the 2009 season.

Welcoming all drivers with National ‘A’, or above, licences, the MSA Asphalt Rally Championship calendar takes in closed-road events in Scotland, the Isle of Man and both Northern & Southern Ireland, plus visits to both the Epynt and Otterburn Military Ranges – a varied, but challenging, selection of rallies from which the eventual winners will be justifiably proud of their achievements.

Meanwhile, the BTRDA ASPHALT RALLY SERIES is open to drivers with National ‘B’, or above, licences and includes 7 very different – but very good! – events taking contenders from St. Austell in the south to Otterburn in the north.

A keen competitor himself, Richard Egger commented, “We at Richard Egger Insurance have enjoyed our involvement with the MSA & BTRDA Asphalt Rally Championships – great events, good competition and nice people. What more could we hope for? We look forward to 2009 and to building on the success of this year.”
