In light of the continuing risks from Foot & Mouth disease to the Irish herd , it has been decided by the committee of Connacht Motor Club to cancel the 2001 Sligo Stages Rally which was scheduled to take place on Sunday July 8th.

The Motor Club as organisers of this event, acknowledge the goodwill and co-operation of the farming community and consequently while there is any possibility of the Rally contributing to spread of the disease, the club felt there was no alternative but to cancel the event for this year.

The organising committee take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported and assisted in running the event in the past and look forward to renewing that relationship in 2002
