The Nenagh engine specialist was back in the driving seat of his Kawasaki Special and he raced around the Cork track to clock fastest time of the day with a time of 2min.02.25 secs, beating his brother Richard with whom he shared the Kawasaki, by a half second.Third overall was Richard Davis in the Suzuki Special .The Cork man was in great form and clearly had put yesterdays dramatic defeat behind him.
The event was hosted by the Cork M.C. and run in O Regans quarry near Coachford,Co.Cork.The smooth and quick track was expected to benefit the Escorteers. However the saloon category was dominated by the front wheel drive cars of Jimmy Devane ( 4th) in the Nissan Cherry ahead of the Vauxhall Nova of Austin Shinnors (5th.) In a fine sixth place was Pete Willoughby in a Sunbeam, ahead of the Escorts of Joe Shinnors Snr. and Paul Mulcahy.Rounding off the top ten was John Shanahan in a Toyota Starlet and Kieran Roche driving an Escort.
