1999/2000 McCarrick Garages West Coast Navigation Championship

The 1999 /2000 West Coast Navigation Trial Championship will be run in accordance with the regulations of the RIAC National Navigation Trial Championship App. ‘R’, Standard Regulations for Navigation Trials, App. ‘R(I)’, “amendments carried in the Motorsport Bulletin 4th November 1999”, and with the following amendments:

Awards:

The Best Club Team award will be presented to the team which has at least one Novice crew, who have achieved the highest total score in the series, as based on their individual championship counting points. Additional prizes may be presented at the discretion of the Championship Committee. To qualify for class awards, a minimum of three events must be started.

Registration: The registrar is Frank Byrnes. All Drivers and Navigators must be registered to qualify for points in the Championship. Points will only be awarded from date of registration. Registration cost is £5.00 each (Driver and Navigator). Registration forms are available from the Registrar, and will be available on the night of the first event of the series. 2 Championship Decals must be carried on the car at all times. No Decal, No Points. Application of Decals as per App. ‘R(I)’ Art 23.3 Motorsport Bulletin, 4th November 1999.

Route:
It is recommended that the route be between 60 and 80 miles long. It is imperative for all CoC’s to bear in mind that the objective of the series is to encourage beginners.
Accordingly the route should be set to encourage standard cars, and beginner class Navigators. “Plot and Bash” may be used also Map Trace or other methods of navigation may be used, and particular attention should be paid to rule no 16 App. ‘R’ regarding unmarked or “not as per map” roads. A start at 2200 is recommended with a finish as early as possible. To ease the organiser’s efforts approx. 20 Time Points is recommended, and a minimum of 25% of these should be manned. Clearly defined letters/numbers to be posted if Time Points are unmanned. A midpoint relaxed section of approx. 20 minutes is recommended to act as a “regroup”. Petrol must be available to competitors at the end of an event.
