Tipperary motorclub ran a successful first event of the year on Sunday last in Rosegreen Cashel Co Tipperary despite the terrible weather conditions. The day started off well but after the first practice lap the weather took a turn for the worst which really tested everyone's metal. After the first timed run of the day Pat O'Connell in his newly acquired Evo 8.5 set fastest time at 3:47 with Trevor harding in the Subaru in second place with a time of 3:53 James Murphy in the WRC Escort was on for an excellent run but the extremely slippy conditions caught him out and he had a spin and a stall which cost him about 15 seconds which really put him out of contention for overall honors for the day. In the second run saw an end to Trevor Harding in the Subaru due to a mechanical failure. Pat O'Connell showed some fantastic consistency by putting in a near identical time on his second run. Liam Ryan in a slightly older Evo6 was starting to show his pace and put in a 3:49. By the end of the third run Pat O'Connell was gone due to mechanical failure and Liam Ryan took the lead with a steady Tom Sheehan showing all the front wheel drivers how it should be done seeking into second overall, and third place was taken by James Murphy who put in two consistent runs following his spin on run1.
From the Tpperary Motor club, a big thank you goes out to Rosegreen speedway for the use of the track and to all the marshals who turned out and helped in the cold and wet day that it was.
