At the end of a close battle all the way, Eamonn Byrne and Paul Phelan scored their fourth win in the Clonakilty based event, with their Mini swapping the lead with the Midget of Robert Bolton and Ian McCulloch several times during the two days.

These two crews were well clear of the rest, headed by the Kadett of first time pairing Steve Griffin and Alan Dorman. Ronnie Griffin and Paul Bosdet took fourth in a BMW 2002, but their normal strong challenge was muted by a disastrous second regularity on Saturday which left them recovering all weekend. The route used classic West Cork rallying territory, and also included regularities over the Tim Healy Pass, Kilmakillogue and Borlin as well as the usual mixture of driving tests and navigation.
