Lipsett Licks them in Latton
Stephen Lipsett took his Peugeot 206 to a memorable victory in Latton in what was probably the worst weather encountered for any event since the Latton Track was opened. The wet windy and bitterly cold conditions suited the the lesser powered cars. The usual top runners Sam Moffett and Joseph Smith found it difficult going getting grip on the rain soaked track ending the day well down the field in 17th and 19th place respectively.
Stephen Lipsett set out his stall with a fastest time on the first run with a 2.19.96 with Jim Mc Kenna second on a time of 2.20.27 and Derek Lipsett third on 2.21.69.
The fastest man on the second run was Stephen Wright with a time of 2.20.91 followed by Stephen Lipsett on 2.22.29 who was revelling in the wet conditions and the ever consistent Tommy Donlon was third fastest on 2.22.38.
With the weather conditions getting worse as the day progressed the third run was once again dominated by Stephen Lipsett knocking in another fastest time on a 2.19.70 with Tommy Donlon setting a 2.21.15 good enough to net him 2nd Place overall on the day and Stephen Wright setting a time of 2.23.54 was sufficient to take him to his best ever result in Latton a 3rd overall
