A four way battle emerged after the first timed run with
David forde from nenagh setting the fastest time of 1.46.31
In his Toyota special from Michael o’connor senior with a time
Of 1.47.06 driving a mitsubishi evo 6.Clare motor club driver
Christy carey slotted into third in his Subaru impreza with a
Time of 1.48.18
Last years clare autocross winner Michael o’connor junior
who was looking For two wins in a row had the fourth quickest
time 1.49.12 as he got used to driving his fathers evo 6.
The second timed run saw Michael o’connor senior improve his
Time to 1.43.50 and take over the lead from david forde who
Finished on a time of 1.45.25. Michael o’connor junior moved
Up to third and tied with Christy carey, both with a time of 1.46.81
The third run saw Michael o’connor senior improve his time
To 1.43.28 to retain his lead. O’connor junior moved into second
Place with 1.44.46 while Christy carey’s subaru moved back to
Third with 1.45.12. david forde held on to fourth on 1.46.09
Michael o’connor senior felt he had done enough to take victory
But all that changed when Michael junior took his time down to
1.42.75 and took the overall lead.
Michael senior felt he had a little more in reserve and decided to
Mount a final challenge. He turned in the quickest time of the day
1.41.62 to take outright victory in what was a very exciting
autocross. Michael junior was second, while david forde held on
to third, Christy carey finished fourth and was the fastest clare
motor club driver on the day
The next round of the munster autocross takes place at cronin’s pit in Killarney on may 28th
