Conditions in the Trotters Quarry Lurganboy venue were demanding on the opening run with quite an element of loose, but this didn’t impact on times, though favouring mainly the front wheel drives, with the only exception being Darroll Harron in the Escort of Quarry owners Andy Trotter, setting a time of 2.51.35, four seconds off Ronnie Coulter’s fastest on the first outing, 2.47.22 in the rallycross Astra.
A further two seconds only separated the next six table toppers, John Unkles, Philip Harte, Paul O Brien, Simon Cafferty, Rory Carrol and Owen Kelly all competing in front wheel drives on the first run of the day.

As competitors identified the correct line on the Lurganboy track, times were defiantly getting faster on the second run, with Ronnie improving on his personal best to set a 2.46.86, which was short lived as Darroll Harran took the lead to set a 2.45.20, fastest entering the third and final run.

The inclement weather did indicate that any improvements would be difficult, but Ronnie Coulter did better his own personal best but not enough to impact on the leading time set by Darroll on the second run, leaving Darroll Harron to pick up the Overall Derryveigh Chrystal Award for the fastest time of the day.

One of the other few to better their times on the third run was Paul O Brien coming within just 5 hundredths of a second off the winning time to move into second overall in the Honda Civic and drop Ronnie into third.
