With Round One of the Innovation Motorsports Rally Scholarship now out of the way attention has now turned to the few selected finalists, for whom just one final day of tests and assessments is all that lies between them and their dream prize- a fully funded season competing in the Peugeot 206 1400 Championship as part of the 2006 Innovation Rally Team.

The first round of the Scholarship was held throughout August at RallySchool UK’s fantastic testing facility at Tong, with all of the participants enjoying a full day of rallying action including co driving and mechanical skills, written assessments, interviews and of course driving the Rally School’s Subaru Impreza’s and Peugeot 205 on the challenging forest stages. At the end of each day the candidates were assessed individually on the role they would like to go for in the team- driver, co driver or mechanics, and those who achieved an overall score of 75% or above were invited back for the second and final round.
Scholarship coordinator Jon Tucker commented: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the first day of assessments and it was really encouraging to see the amount of effort and determination shown by the participants. Those that showed a high level of promise have already been invited back for the final, which promises to be another fun, intense and challenging day. It’s just a shame we couldn’t give everyone another chance to show what they can do!”
Innovation Motorsports director, Chris Moore remarked: “Round One was a resounding success. We had many people here from all walks of life, some of which had never even seen a rally car up close before. It was a great chance for these people to experience the different roles associated with being in a rally team.”
The final round will be held over the weekend of October 29th & 30th with each candidate taking part in a range of assessments directly related to the role they are applying for in the team. A panel of independent judges from the rallying world will have the difficult responsibility for choosing the overall winners.
The four winning contestants- 1 driver, 1 co driver and 2 mechanics will then undergo a training program organised by Innovation Motorsports to ensure they are ready for the full season of rallying that lies ahead.

Innovation Motorpsorts today announced details of an exciting new rally Scholarship. The brainchild of I.M.S
director Chris Moore will involve searching for an entire team, rather than just a driver.
Based on a three round system, a carefully selected panel of independent judges will endeavour to find a team
consisting of a driver, co-driver and two mechanics, who together will form the Innovation Rally Team 2006.
Applicants will be assessed on a number of key areas including driving skills, pacenote and co-driving
techniques, basic mechanical knowledge, TV interview skills, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
The selection process will run throughout the summer with all qualifying rounds taking place at RallySchool UK,
the Innovation Motorsports testing facility in Tong outside Bradford. Round one will commence on Monday August
15th, round two will begin on Saturday October 1st with the final taking place on Sunday October 30th.
The Scholarship is open to anyone over the age of seventeen who holds a current valid driving license and every
applicant will have a fair chance of winning regardless of any past experience. The candidates who are chosen by
the judges at the final stage will win a fully funded drive in the Peugeot 1400 challenge for the 2006 season.
Scholarship coordinator Jon Tucker commented: “We are very excited about the scholarship. As we all know,
rallying is a team orientated sport and it will be fantastic to see the Innovation Rally Team competing in next
years Peugeot 1400 championship. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to become part of a works
supported rally team!”
Innovation Motorsports director, Chris Moore remarked, "It is an interesting concept and I am really looking
forward to the selection process. There are an awful lot of people out there who would love the chance to be part
of a professional rally team but have never been given the opportunity. Our scholarship offers that chance to
everyone, regardless of any previous experience!"
