KaMotions Ka Rally Championship: Everything comes to those who wait
Mark Buckley from Whites Cross, Cork scored a convincing win on final round of 2005 KaMotions KA Championship, the BioTech Banna Beach Multi Stage Rally, and with it wins 2005 KaMotions KA Championship.

Mark, after coming to terms with the cruel blow of retiring within sight of the finish on the Cork "20" started the event level on points with the hard charging Waterford Lady, Sharon Power.

Mark and co-driver Eric Kelly in the Buckley Tyres KA set a blistering pace over the first loop, with Sharon Power in close contention despite her finding the grip very "patchy". Donal Lennon, who had fellow KA competitor, Brian O'Mahony co-driving was having an adventurous rally and held third.

Starting the final two stages, Sharon and Co-driver Jonathan McGrath in the Power JCB Hire KA knew that they must throw caution to the wind if they were to have any chance to wrest the Championship from Mark Buckley.

It all went wrong for the Waterford pair on the Knocknagashel stage where they slid wide on a square left and picked up a puncture. As they struggled through the remainder of the stage Mark Buckley caught and passed them and tightened his grip on the 2005 KaMotions championship. Donal Lennon in the Lennon Building and Carpentry KA set the fastest time on the last stage, Desmond’s Grave, and claimed third, just 10 Seconds behind Sharon Power.

Mark Buckley arrived at the finish ramp in jubilant form: "I am very, very happy to win the Rally and the Championship, especially for all my Sponsors and Mechanics who have worked so hard since the beginning of the season. It's been a great year for us; the car has worked well, the performance and speed has been good. Colm Forde was fast but was so unlucky and Sharon pushed us hard all year. I really enjoyed the championship events."

Mark now looks forward to claiming the KaMotions prize for his win - A test drive in a Ford Super1600 at Chris Birkbeck International Rally School in Yorkshire.
