Purchasing his Peugeot 106 Ex Cup Car, Eamons first event was the Limerick Single Stage where he finished 1st in his class and an astounding 12th overall. Next came Eamons first multi-stage event ‘ Mayo Stages Rally’ where he again won his class and finished 33rd overall, a pattern that was to continue throughout the year as Eamon notched up five class wins - backed by his dedicated sponsors: Thomas Mc Guigan Bar Furniture, Setanta House Hotel, Moen Transport, Pitwood Quarries and Mc Elvaney Motors.
To top off his winning season Eamon has been selected by MotorSport Ireland as a ‘Billy Coleman – Young Rally Driver Of The Year’ finalist which will be announced in early December. This much sought after and prestigious award recognises young, up-and-coming Irish drivers and offers a support package that can help young talented drivers progress within the sport.
His skill and consistency as a driver has meant that Eamon has taken class honours in the ‘Quinn-Group Border Championship’. With plans currently in progress to contest a one-make series next year and also to take part in the Dunlop National Rally Championship, Eamon Mc Elvaney is definitely one to watch!
