Damian Cole will head to the Isle of Man on 29th-31st July to continue his Kwik-Fit Pirelli British Rally Championship(BRC) campaign on the Gibbs Aquada Manx International Rally. Although the Hereford based Welshman has made some changes to his regular set up for the fifth round qualifier.

Cole will be driving his ex works Toyota Celica ST205, the car previously winning the 1996 Manx International in the capable hands of Armin Schwarz. The forced change in machinery due to an uncharacteristic error by Cole on the recent Quinton Stages in Mid Wales when he rolled his Subaru Impreza World Rally Car.

Cole has also had to change co-drivers for the Manx, with Church Stretton co-driver, Phil Clarke unable to contest the rally due to work commitments. His seat will now be occupied by Irish co-driver Martin Brady. The pair having previously competed together before in 2002, when they contested Lurgan Park in Ireland at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V.

Despite being the only non World Rally Car in the top nineteen, Cole is hopeful is asphalt experience will be of benefit for a good result.

"I have competed on the Isle of Man three times in a Metro 6R4, the Mitsubishi and a Darrian T90 GTR. I would have liked to have the Subaru ready for this event but the Toyota has had a complete re-build and was ready to go. We will have to wait and see if the car is still capable of winning, but realistically a top ten place is our aim and if we can get further up the leaderboard will be an added bonus."

It will be Cole's first appearance on the Manx International, but his tarmac experience has warranted his inclusion in the Welsh Team for the Bruce Trophy Nations Cup.

"The series has been really enjoyable and to be asked to represent your country in any sport is very rewarding. I hope I can do a good enough job for inclusion for the rest of the season."

Damian/Martin are supported on the Gibbs Aquada Manx International Rally by O2 & Get Connected!, Welsh Automotive Forum, Matador Tyres, ACE Motorsport and Maximum Attack Promotions.
