This year's national championship is being fought between Gerard Lucey (Toyota
Special), Lionel Percy (Blackbird Special), both of whom have confirmed
their entries for the double header.
Local interest lies with Ger Brennan, who is leading the Saloon Car Section
in his Cosworth powered Fiesta. A good result on home ground will warp up
the championship and be the icing on the cake for what has been a great
year for the Killarney driver.
The event is also a round of the Darby O'Gills Killarney Autocross Championship.
Gerard Lucey has taken narrow wins on the opening 2 rounds to lead the championship.
As always the class battles are as close as ever. In Class one for 1400cc
Cars, Michael Linehan (Honda Civic) has a 5 point lead over Sean Allen &
Mark O'Shaughnessy.
Jimmy Devane (Datsun Cherry) and James Lehane (Civic) are tied at the top
of class 2 with 18 points after a win and 2nd place each. 17 Year old Owen
Murphy from Cork and local driver Anthony Kelliher are tied at 12 points,
both competing in Sunbeams. Dan Barry leads class 3 from Michael O'Connor
who missed the 2nd round of the championship.
The action starts at 2:00 on Saturday and at 12:00 onm Sunday, with prize giving each evening in
the Riverside Inn in Currans.
The venue will be sign posted from Farranfore each day and all are welcome
to attend.
