Kenneth in the Henderson's of Sligo/Connacht Gold Ford KA has had a difficult year, but Kenneth's fighting spirit came to the fore and he never gave up hope on his dream. Kenneth had an outside chance of winning the championship going into the final round but perseverance paid off when Championship leader and great rival Ian Chadwick crashed out of the rally on the third stage. Kenneth then had to concentrate on winning the event. Kenneth drove superbly keeping enough in reserve to record his first victory of the year to end on a total of 113 points the same score as Ian Chadwick. However the rules state that a tiebreak is decided by who has the greater number of fastest stage times. Kenneth was the faster of the two all year and the Championship was decided in his favour.
'I am delighted, I have tried so hard all year, I lost a definite victory in Clonmel over a timing error, there have been so many disappointments but this makes up for everything. I am over the moon, we also have won Class 5 in the National Championship, so it is a double celebration. I would like to thank my sponsors Henderson Motors and Connacht and my navigator Damien Henry, without their help this would not have been possible' said Kenneth
