Hewison Autotest champion Eamonn Byrne of Delgany and multiple champion navigator Paul Phelan joined forces to dominate the Circuit of Ireland Retrospective Trial for the third time in a row, when it finished in Donegal town on Sunday after three days of driving tests, navigation and regularity.

Their Mini Cooper S led from the Belfast start on Friday, and they increased their lead over yesterday’s final sections to finish more than 90 marks ahead of runners up Trevor Faulkner and Laurence Allan in another Mini, with the Escort of the Dorman brothers, Phil and Alan, close behind in third place.
Husband and wife team Richard and Jo McAllister from Malahide took their Volvo to fourth place and a class win, with Dubliners Tom Callanan and Frank Hussey also taking their class.
